Pretty Pink Project

I have, for a while, wanted to get the finishing touches for Reagan's nursery all done. Its only taken me more than a year to decide what I wanted to do on the wall above her crib on either side of her vinylism...

So, I found these really cool frames at ikea, and the inspiration was born. I got two frames, one for each side of the saying above her crib.

The frames only came in black, and they are plastic, so I had to find a paint color that I liked that came in a kind of paint that would work for plastic. Krylon brand paints have a product called Krylon Fusion, that works for painting plastic without having to sand or prep the plastic surface in any way, easy right??? They didn't have a great selection of colors, so I went with White with a satin finish. I figured that white would look really pretty against Reagan's watermelon pink walls!!

So, I took my cans of paint, and my new frames from ikea, and went to work, and it was really really easy. Just a few coats of the spray paint and my frames were magically transformed from a gothic like frame in black, to a really girly pretty frame in white. I was very pleased with the way this project was turning out!!!

Next I had to decide what to put in the frames. The frames are HUGE, so getting a picture that big was out of the question. I decided to find some pretty fabric to put in the frames. I chose a Michael Miller fabric called Avocado Dandy Damask. Its really pretty and the green matched the greens in Reagan's room well.

I cut the fabric, ironed it, and then put it in the frames. It looked so pretty, but kind of boring, like it was missing something.

So, on to plan B. I really like the frames and I really liked the fabric with the frame, but now, the project needed some spunk. I went to hobby lobby and bought some wooden letters and some watermelon pink paint!! I painted the letters with the pretty watermelon pink paint, and they turned out SUPER cute!!!

I put the letters on the outside of the glass of the frame, just to be different, and this is what the final project looks like......

So Pretty, I just love how they turned out. I think they will look so great on Reagan's walls, now I just need to get Jeremy to hang them;-))))

Poor Old Girl!!!

My washing machine blew up last night, not literally like a huge explosion or anything, but pretty much just died, dead, kaput!! Poor girl, I guess I wore her out with all of the washing I did yesterday!!! I am kind of sad about this, I have had that washer and dryer pair since I started graduate school at UT, like 10 years ago. She has been through many moves with me and she was a good old reliable washing machine. I guess it was inevitable, but I am still a little sad at the passing of an era of my washing machine!! I am also sad at the amount of money that is going to go to buying a replacement for that old girl:-))

We decided that it was only fair to her to replace the dryer as well, since he is about on his last leg too!!! Right now, he takes at least 4 hours of hard work to dry a load of towels, seriously!! So, today, I ordered a new washer and dryer. Don't get me wrong, I am totally excited about these new pretty appliances that will be delivered to me shortly, but sad that I didn't get to spend that money on something more fun, like, well anything really. And I will be sad to see that old girl go, she was a good old washing machine!!

But, to ease the pain a little bit, I decided to pick something that would make me smile when my old washer and dryer were replaced, and what better to do that than some pretty WILD CHERRY RED appliances:-))

Not too obnoxious, is it, well maybe a little, but oh well!!!

So, on to a new chapter in our lives, with some pretty new red appliances. Maybe laundry will not take me days and days now that I will have a pretty new washer and dryer that work!!!

Rest in Peace Old Girl!!!

Snow Day

Reagan got to experience her first snow here in Texas recently. Now usually, we really do not get much "snow" in Texas, but it happens from time to time. It just so happened that this time, it snowed, alot!! We got close to 12 inches of snow, a foot of snow in Texas, unheard of!! And I think that this was the most snow that has ever fallen on North Texas at one time in the history of Texas!! We were very PROUD and excited to make the history books and get to enjoy all of the snow. Reagan was not sure about the snow, she could hardly move in all of her snow gear. She tried to get around at first, but after several failed attempts and several faces full of snow, she decided to sit and just eat it instead!! Here are some pictures of Reagan enjoying her first Texas snowfall!!

First Haircut

Reagan got her very first haircut recently!! She was such a big girl and really did great. We went to Pigtails and Crewcuts, a children's hair boutique that specializes in children's haircuts. They have the cutest set-up. All of the chairs are specifically designed with children in mind. Reagan got to sit in a fire-truck while she got her hair cut!!! She loved every minute of it and totally hammed it up looking at herself in the mirror. Here are some pictures of Reagan's First Haircut!!

Visit with the Big Jolly Guy

So, Reagan had her first experience visiting with Old St. Nick himself this year. So, how do you think she did?

Do you think she crawled right up on his lap, snuggling in close, pulling on his long white beard and giving him a flash of her beautiful smile??

Or...

Did she shutter with fear, kick, scream, cry, cry more, and more, and more, and scare all of the other kids and make them not want to visit with the poor old jolly man with the red suit???

What do you think???

Hmmmm.........

Did you guess right?? What is it with kids and santa, poor guy!!! The best part of all of it was as Jeremy was carrying Reagan up to visit with Santa, I knew right away nothing good was going to come of this venture. Santa could tell too... He looked at me and half smiled, with some sadness in his sparkling blue eyes, and said to me in all seriousness "You better hurry (taking the pictures), it will only get worse" I chucked to myself, poor guy, guess he has been around this block before:-)))

As for Reagan, as soon as she got away from that mean old scary man, she was just fine!! I sure did think that she looked cute all dressed up for Santa though!!!

Family Pictures

If you know me well, you know that I love photography and wish wish wish that I was or could be really really good at it!! I just think that its such an amazing talent to be able to capture the true essence of people in a photograph, and I treasure all of my pictures!! So, in light of me falling short of being a great photographer, I have been blessed to have found someone to take pictures of my sweet family and sweet baby girl, keepsakes that I will treasure for ever!! I use her often and will continue to use her to document our life here on this earth!! Enjoy the pictures, Erin from Erin Renee Photography took them, look her up, I promise you will not be disappointed!!
